Strainers
Strainers are the first line of defense for pumps, meters, control valves, and other precision process equipment — removing particulate contamination that can cause premature wear, valve seat damage, and instrumentation failures. ATSCO Sales & Service is the factory-authorized manufacturer's representative for Titan FCI industrial strainers throughout Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming.
Titan FCI manufactures a comprehensive range of Y-strainers, basket strainers, and duplex strainers in cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, and ductile iron constructions. Available in ANSI pressure classes 125, 150, 250, 300, and 600, Titan strainers are engineered to meet the demanding service conditions found in Rocky Mountain industrial and municipal applications.
Y-strainers (wye strainers) are the most economical and common choice for protecting instrumentation and small valves in liquid and gas service. The Titan YS58 series cast iron Y-strainer is a workhorse for water, oil, and gas line protection in Class 125 and Class 250 applications, available in sizes from 1/4 inch to 12 inches with removable screen elements in standard 20, 40, and 100-mesh configurations.
Basket strainers provide a larger screen area than Y-strainers and are preferred for high-flow liquid service where frequent cleaning would be disruptive with a Y-strainer configuration. The Titan BS35 carbon steel basket strainer offers flanged ANSI 150 and 300 class connections and is available with standard and quick-open cover designs for fast maintenance during scheduled downtime.
Duplex strainers allow continuous process flow by incorporating two parallel strainer baskets with a diverter valve that permits one basket to be cleaned while the other remains in service. The Titan DS695 series duplex strainer is ideal for critical applications in oil & gas processing, chemical plants, and power generation facilities where process interruption is not acceptable.
Proper strainer sizing is critical for system performance. Undersized strainers create excessive pressure drop and require frequent cleaning; oversized strainers may pass oversized particles that damage downstream equipment. ATSCO's application engineers can calculate the required screen area based on your flow rate, fluid properties, particle load, and acceptable pressure drop to specify the right Titan strainer for your installation.
